Sports Drink Recipe:
by debee007
In the heat of the summer it’s easy to work up a sweat with any outdoor exercise. However, if you lose more liquid than you replace, then you can get dehydrated. Dehydration can cause dizziness, nausea, or muscle cramps. Increasing your water intake during these times is mandatory to maintain good health. Sports drinks help with recharging you with carbohydrates and replacing the electrolytes (salts and minerals such as sodium and potassium) that you sweat out during prolonged, strenuous exercise. It’s always best to choose drinks without refined sugar or artificial ingredients. Here’s a simply delightful recipe for a sports drink.
Homemade Sports Drink:
- ½ teaspoon honey
- 1 cup hot water
- Juice of ¼ lemon* (organic is best)
- Pinch of sea salt
Combine ingredients, stir, and chill the drink to enjoy later. Drink during or after exercise.
(I like to double the recipe and save some for the next day!)
*Substitute: lime, orange, cucumber, berries, ginger
